SMALL BLOCK CHEVY THAT WENT WITH THE CROSLEY AND THE ENGINE FOR MY NEW
PROJECT. QUITE A DIFFERENCE IN THE PROFILE OF THESES TWO BEASTS

THIS NEW ONE IS A 1957
392ci CHRYSLER HEMI. IT FEATURES A COMPLETE REBUILD WITH 8 TO 1 ROSS
PISTONS, ISKY CAM, 671 BLOWER & 2 HOLLEY 600 cfm CARBS. ONCE
ASSEMBLED, IT WAS RUN AND TUNED ON A DYNO. IT DELIVERED 645 HORSEPOWER AT
6000 rpm

WENT OVER
TO THE "GOODGUYS" SHOW TODAY IN HERSHEY AND PICKED UP MY
32 GRILL SHELL, INSERT & RAD. ALSO HEADLAMPS & BRACKETS
OBVIOUSLY, I COULD HAVE
FILLED THIS PAGE WITH PHOTOS OF THE SHOW BUT HERE IS JUST ONE ORIGINAL
ROD. THE RED PAINT IS STILL INTACT FROM THE 60s. IT WAS AN X DRAG CAR IN
NEW JERSEY, THEN WENT DOWN SOUTH AND THEN CAME BACK HERE TO OUR AREA
WHERE A LOCAL GUY PUT IT BACK ON THE STREET. IT STILL HAS THE OLD TUCK
& ROLL INTERIOR, OLDS 4:56 REAR AND NOTICE THE "DRUM" BRAKES

TODAY I SET THE BODY BACK
ON THE FRAME TO START THE PROCESS OF FITTING THE ENGINE/TRANS, BED
ETC.
I DO PLAN
ON SETTING THE CAB BACK ABOUT 10 INCHES FROM STOCK ALONG WITH THE ENGINE
& 32 GRILL SHELL SO THE ENGINE WILL SET TOWARD THE REAR OF THE FRONT
TIRES, HOPEFULLY GIVING IT AN EARLIER LOOK. |

JUST A COUPLE PIX WITH THE
32 GRILL & HEADLAMPS MOCKED UP IN PLACE
ACTUALLY,
THE GRILL SHELL WILL SIT ABOUT 10 INCHES FARTHER BACK IN THE END. JUST
BEHIND THE CROSS MEMBER IT IS SITTING ON IN THE PICTURE. THAT CROSS MEMBER
WILL BE MOVED BACK AS WELL OR A NEW ONE WILL BE BUILD TO ACCOMMODATE

ALL THE WORK YA
GOTTA GO THROUGH IN TEARING THIS WHOLE STOCK AXLE APART ON THE LEFT JUST
TO SAVE THE SPINDLES TO PUT ON THE NEW DROPPED AXLE ON THE RIGHT (ALONG
WITH THE "POSIES" SPRINGS)
TIE ROD IS A PAIN!! I BOUGHT THE
"DROP KIT" AND IT DOESN'T DROP IT ENOUGH. I PUT IT BACK STOCK
AND IT RIDES "OVER" THE SPRINGS BUT DOES RUB SLIGHTLY AS SEEN TO
THE LEFT. I'M JUST GOING TO BUILD A
TO
THE RIGHT I PUT THE STEERING BOX IN PLACE. I MAY HAVE TO RECESS IT THRU
THE OUTER SIDE OF THE FRAME RAIL OR MOVE IT FARTHER REAR TO GAIN ROOM FOR THE HEMI TO MISS IT. I
CAN GET NEAR 2 MORE INCHES OF CLEARANCE

I FINALLY
GOT THE CAB MOUNTS FABRICATED. WITH THIS DONE I COULD THEN LOCATE THE
REAREND HOUSING WHERE I WANTED IT. SHOWN HERE I MADE A PAIR OF STANDS FOR
THE HOUSING TO LOCATE IT AT THE FINISHED RIDE HEIGHT. THE REAR FRAME RAILS
ARE IN PLACE AND TEMPORARILY BRACED. I'll MOUNT THE LADDER BARS
& COIL OVER SHOCKS NEXT
EVERYONE

THE REAR
FRAME INITIAL WORK WENT RATHER QUICKLY SO I SAT IT ON THE FULL SUSPENSION
AND ROLLED IT OUT OF THE GARAGE FOR A BETTER LOOK, TO CHECK THE SPRING
TRAVEL AND TO TAKE SOME PICTURES. TWO SMALL ANGLE IRON TEMPORARY BRACES

BED THEN THE REAR PANEL (NON OPENING) WITH A SKETCHED LAYOUT OF THE
PROPOSED LOUVERS.
TO THE
RIGHT IS THE FINISHED REAR PANEL AND THE 1950s BUILT PUNCH PRESS I DID THE
LOUVERS WITH. I PURCHASED THE PRESS FROM THE 2nd OWNER WHO HAD IT SINCE
THE 70s
