WENT OVER TO THE "GOODGUYS" SHOW TODAY IN  HERSHEY AND PICKED UP MY 32 GRILL SHELL, INSERT & RAD. ALSO HEADLAMPS & BRACKETS

IT WAS AN X DRAG CAR IN NEW JERSEY, THEN WENT  DOWN SOUTH AND THEN CAME BACK HERE TO OUR AREA WHERE A LOCAL GUY PUT IT BACK ON THE STREET. IT STILL HAS THE OLD TUCK & ROLL INTERIOR, OLDS 4:56 REAR AND NOTICE THE "DRUM" BRAKES UP FRONT

TODAY I SET THE BODY BACK ON THE FRAME TO START THE PROCESS OF FITTING THE ENGINE/TRANS, BED ETC. 

I DO PLAN ON SETTING THE CAB BACK ABOUT 10 INCHES FROM STOCK ALONG WITH THE ENGINE & 32 GRILL SHELL SO THE ENGINE WILL SET TOWARD THE REAR OF THE FRONT TIRES, HOPEFULLY GIVING IT AN EARLIER LOOK.

ALTHOUGH YOU MAY NOT SEE MUCH PROGRESS IN THESE PICTURES, I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF SMALL THINGS SUCH AS REDRILLING THE AXLE FOR THE LOWER SHOCK MOUNTS AND PERMANENTLY MOUNTING THE LAMPS, RAD ETC. SHOWN HERE ARE THE NEW "ET" GASSER WHEELS. I HAVEN'T AS OF YET FASTENED THE CAB OR STARTED THE REAR FRAME WORK

I FINALLY GOT THE CAB MOUNTS FABRICATED. WITH THIS DONE I COULD THEN LOCATE THE REAREND HOUSING WHERE I WANTED IT. SHOWN HERE I MADE A PAIR OF STANDS FOR THE HOUSING TO LOCATE IT AT THE FINISHED RIDE HEIGHT. THE REAR FRAME RAILS ARE IN PLACE AND TEMPORARILY BRACED. I'll MOUNT  THE LADDER BARS & COIL OVER SHOCKS NEXT

EVERYONE ASKS HOW LONG IT TAKES TO BUILD A HOT ROD. THUS FAR I HAVE RECORDED AROUND 140 HOURS

THE REAR FRAME INITIAL WORK WENT RATHER QUICKLY SO I SAT IT ON THE FULL SUSPENSION AND ROLLED IT OUT OF THE GARAGE FOR A BETTER LOOK, TO CHECK THE SPRING TRAVEL AND TO TAKE SOME PICTURES. TWO SMALL ANGLE IRON TEMPORARY BRACES CAN BE SEEN ON THE CLOSEUP PICTURE OF THE SUSPENSION TO THE RIGHT

THUMBNAILED PIX TO THE LEFT SHOW THE ORIGINAL DASH AND THE MODIFIED DASH WITH THE 1994 CAMARO COLUMN INSTALLED. PIX TO THE RIGHT SHOW SOME DETAIL OF THE MODIFIED ORIGINAL STEERING BOX WITH THE COLUMN ADAPTED TO FIT IT. I CUT THE OLD FORD FULL LENGTH STEERING SHAFT OFF AND INSTALLED A SPLINED END ON IT JUST WHERE IT COMES OUT OF THE BOX HOUSING ALONG WITH A U-JOINT. THE UPPER END OF THE JOINT IS A WELD-ON. THE CAMARO COLUMN WAS ALSO SHORTENED ABOUT 10 INCHES

THE BARE DASH PANEL IS SHOWN WITH THE COLUMN TILTED UP & DOWN TO THE LEFT. TO THE RIGHT THE GAUGES AND STEREO ARE INSTALLED. THE ALUMINUM PANEL WAS COVERED IN PURPLE VINYL TO MATCH THE "KERKEY" RACING SEATS  WHICH WILL BE INSTALLED SOONER OR LATER. PURPLE VINYL & CLOTH  WILL ALSO BE USED TO FINISH THE INTERIOR. THE EXPOSED INTERIOR METAL DASH AND DOOR AREAS WILL BE PAINTED SCHOOL BUS YELLOW TO MATCH THE EXTERIOR BODY

TO THE RIGHT IS THE FINISHED REAR PANEL AND THE 1950s BUILT PUNCH PRESS I DID THE LOUVERS WITH. I PURCHASED THE PRESS FROM THE 2nd OWNER WHO HAD IT SINCE THE 70s
